Mr.Dong Ngo passed away on December 8th, 2006 at his home in Denver. Dong had worked continuously at Denver Spoke Bicycles since 1980 following his service in Vietnam and later as a professional tennis player. Dong was well known throughout the bicycle racing community in Colorado and was instrumental in the sponsorship and mentoring of many prominent Colorado athletes. Dong was a competitive tennis player and when not actively managing The Denver Spoke, taught tennis and competed in local tournaments. He was a regular at The Washington Park tennis courts.
Following the Coors Classic era of Colorado bicycle racing, Dong extended Denver Spoke sponsorship to Colorado Velo in 1987. While preferring to stay in the background Dong generously supported our efforts and became a good friend. Many of us in the Colorado bicycle racing community considered Dong to be the head of our unique family. He will be sorely missed.
